Card Making Project - Marvelous Squares Card

Irene made this card using the Spellbinders Marvelous Squares set of dies in Smooth Skin Deepest Violet and Stardream Opal. Made as a Christmas card, with a star gem in the centre, this card could really be used for any occasion.
You will need a die cutting machine for this project.

To make this card you will need:

Score the A4 Stardream Opal card down the middle to create an A5 creased card.
Cut the Deepest Violet card to 136mm x 198mm and, using photo glue or double sided tape, glue centrally to the front of the card leaving a 6mm border.
The next step is to cut the shapes that will make up the matted and layered centre of the card. Do not remove the card from the dies once cut until they have been embossed.
Using the largest and the smallest die run a piece of Opal card through the die cutting machine.
Using the leftover piece of the Deepest Violet card run it through the die cutting machine using the second and fifth dies in the set.
Cut a piece of Stardream Opal card measuring 6.5 x 6.5 cms and using the fourth die run this through the die cutting machine.
Using the largest die and Stardream Opal card run it through the die cutting machine.
Run all these dies through the die cutting machine again using the embossing mat and Sizzix texture pad if using the Cuttlebug or Big Shot and the pink embossing plate and tan mat if using the Grand Calibur.
Push out the Stardream Opal corners from the fourth die and attach one to each corner on the card retaining the remaining piece of Opal card.
Mat and layer the die cuts as follows:
Opal card from largest die - glue on the centre of the card using double sided tape or photo glue
Deepest Violet card from second largest die - layer using double sided tape or photo glue
Opal card from fourth die - layer using 3D foam tape
Deepest Violet card from fifth die - layer using 3D foam tape
Opal card from smallest die layer using 3D foam pads 3mm thick
Add an iridescent gem to the centre
Cut a piece of Quartz card measuring 10 0mm x 20mm and punch the corners using the corner rounder. Attach this to the centre top of the card and add Gold peel off sentiments.
