Card Making Project - Colours Of Spring Card
Made by Madeleine
This card was made as inspiration for the March Craftsite Challenge. It use Core-dinations Tim Holtz Distress cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress Pens and 3 different Spellbinder die sets. You can still make this card even if you don't have a Grand Calibur as the Grand Nestabilities Large Labels die is optional - if you don't have a Grand Calibur simply cut a rectangle and use an inverted corner rounder punch.
You will need a die cutting machine to make this card.

Cut the Spun Sugar card to 198mm x198mm and clue to the front of the card using photo glue.
Creating the Large Card Topper
Cut a rectangle of the Old Paper card to measure 135mm x 175mm. Run another piece of the Old Paper card through the die cutting machine using the largest of the Nestabilities Labels Ten dies. Run the Labels Ten die cut card through the machine using the large daisy side of the M-Bossabilities folder Whimsy.
Using a piece of the Scattered Straw card, run it through the die cutting machine using the Grand Large Label die that measures approximately 124mm by 160mm or, if you don't have a Grand Calibur, cut a rectangle of Scattered Straw card to 124mm x 160mm and punch each corner with the inverted corner rounder punch.
Using the Label Ten die cut card place 2 pieces of low tack masking diagonally to create 3 evenly spaced sections. Lightly colour the top section with Red Wine and the middle section with Blush from the From the Vineyard set and the bottom section with Honey Sand from the Summer Sea set.
Tip: when applying chalks to highlight the embossing on a piece of card it is better to go over the embossing lightly 2 or 3 times.
Remove the masking tape and then using the Sparkling Sand chalk from the Summer Sea set highlight the inside of 2 or 3 of the scrolls on the embossed card.
Using photo glue, glue the chalked Labels Ten die cut card to the centre of the Scattered Straw die cut card, and then to the large Old Paper rectangle.
Using the large flourish die from the Shapeabilities Jewel Flower and Flourishes set and a piece of Forest Moss card run once through the die cutting machine to cut and then change plates and run through again to emboss.
Using the Spun Sugar card and one of the larger flower dies from the Shapeabilities Jewel Flower and Flourishes set cut and emboss 2 flowers. Shade the edges and centre of the flowers using the Worn Lipstick distress marker.
Glue the forest moss flourish to the card using photo glue. Glue the 2 flowers together using photo glue giving them a little twist so that all the petals are visible. When the photo glue is dry adhere the flower to the card using 3D foam tape. Fix the topper in place using 3D foam tape placing it about 6mm from the opening edge of the card.
Creating the Floral Side Panel
Using 3 pieces of the Forest Moss card die cut and emboss each piece creating 2 large and 1 small flourish. Glue these up the left hand side of the card with the 2 larger flourishes at the top and bottom and the smaller one in between them.
Using card in Scattered Straw, Milled Lavender, and Weathered Wood cut and emboss 2 flowers in each colour using the larger flower dies. Using the smaller flower and Mustard Seed card cut and emboss 2 flowers.
Colour the outside of the petals and a centre spot with Mustard Seed distress marker on the Scattered Straw flower; Victorian Velvet distress marker on the petals of the Milled Lavender flower and dots of Spun Sugar and Spiced Marmalade on the centre; Dusty Concord distress marker applied to the tips of the Weathered Wood flower with Picket fence covering the whole of the centre; and Spiced Marmalade on the tips and along the embossing on the petal of the Mustard Seed flower and again in the centre.
Glue each flower together with photo glue twisting it slightly so that all petals are visible. Leave for the glue to dry.
When dry add a 10mm silver round embellishment to the centre of the Weathered Wood flower and a 3mm gold one to the centre of the Mustard Seed flower.
Place the flowers evenly along the left hand edge using 3D foam tape with the smallest flower at the top.
